Summer Mini-Camps!

Read below to learn about and register for upcoming Workshops and Spring Sessions

We currently are offering  Summer Mini-Camps &  Empowerment programs that use running and physical fitness as a tool to teach Growth Mindset – innovative – most kids programs do not directly work on these concepts. Though running is a skill that is used in nearly ALL sports, and if you've ever had a running injury, then you know how important it is to develop good form from the get go!

Practices usually last one hour and are divided into three main areas. Warm-up and discussion of growth mindset concept, drill of the day, and end of class game. We want children to leave practice both sweaty and smiling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's Offered?

-8 week session

-1 classes per week

-1 hour per class

-8 empowerment principles that are paired with 8 running skills

How Much Does It Cost?

The price for our 8 week session is $135 per child. This includes all 8 classes, a T-shirt, and 8 empowerment principles paired with 8 running skills designed to build resilience and self-confidence while also building a strong foundation for fitness and health.

What are the "8 Empowerment Principles"?

1) Power words – How we talk about ourselves defines who we are

2) Positive thoughts – We are what we think we are

3) Aggressive Goals – We dare to believe anything is possible

4) Personal Resilience – Setbacks are welcomed as an opportunity to grow

5) Teamwork – We can do together what we cannot do alone

6) Individual integrity – We do the right thing even when no one is watching

7) Community vision – Our actions affect our community

8) New Beginnings – A finish line is just the beginning of a new journey

What Running Skills Are Covered?

1) Warm-up/Cool down – We prepare our bodies to run with a warm-up and prepare it to restore with a cool down.

2) Posture – Posture reflects attitude. Run Club Attitude: relaxed, light, positive feeling while running tall, controlled and looking forward.

3) Pacing – Understand different pacing speeds and when to use each.

4) Energy Direction – Keeping good running form will make your running more efficient so you can go faster for longer periods of time.

5) Speed vs. Endurance – Understand the difference between speed and endurance and how they work together.

6) Stride – Understand stride, cadence and how they relate to speed. Be able to find the “just right” stride during different run speeds.

7) Strength training – Running is a whole-body exercise and strength training is an important part of any running program.

8) Putting it all together – Earn the end of season medal by completing the Medal Challenge.

Do Kids Participate In Races?

We may participate in local off-site public races and encourage all students and their families to participate as often as possible.  However, there is not a final race that we work toward included in this program. By the end of our 8-week program, students should have built a strong foundation for overall fitness that will help them in running, other sports, PE classes, and life! Please check with your coach during your session to see if there are any upcoming events planned in your area that students may participate in.

What's your policy for class cancellations due to weather or illness, etc.?

We hold classes rain or shine! In the event of extreme weather or lightening that is close by, an additional make up class may be offered--either another day of the week or after the last week of the program. This same policy is true for any class canceled by a coach. We cannot offer make-up classes for every student who may miss a class due to illness, but we are happy to provide a written summary of the class they miss in case you would like to discuss and run as a family.
